OLPH Haiti Project

Since 1996, OLPH has been twinned with Sacré-Cœur (Sacred Heart) Parish in Cabestor, Haiti. Founded by parishioner Dr. Tom Fame, this project partners directly with the rural community in the Cabestor Valley in the central plateau region of Haiti.  Rather than just offering short-term relief, our multi-decade framework builds "people power" through community-led development across four main sectors.

  • Community Healthcare: Funding local medical clinics and community health programs.
  • Education: Supporting the local parish school system, paying teacher salaries, and financing student tuition.
  • Clean Water & Nutrition: Implementing filtration setups and nutritional support to eliminate waterborne illness.
  • Job Training & Agriculture: Sustaining local farming operations and skills training to generate reliable economic income.

For more infomration about upcoming parish trips, volunteer spots, or specific medical initiatives, you can reach out directly to Dr. Tom Fame at Haiti@OLPHSalem.org.

To provide financial support, you can deliver or mail physical checks designated for the project directly to the parish office (OLPH Haiti, 314 Turner Road, Salem, VA 24153).  For electronic gifts, you can use the button below to link to our online giving portal, and then scroll down to select Give Now from the Haiti section.
