Pastoral Council

A pastoral council in the Catholic Church is a consultative body of laity that advises the parish priest on pastoral matters.  Its primary role is to investigate pastoral needs, reflect on them, and make recommendations to help guide the community's mission and growth.


At OLPH, elections for Pastoral Council are held in November, and members are elected to 3-year terms.  Meetings are held roughly 8-9 times per year on Wednesday evenings.  If you would like to be included on the next ballot for Pastoral Council, please contact the OLPH Office.

Finance Council

In Catholic churches, a Parish Finance Council is a mandated consultative body required by Canon 537 of the Code of Canon Law. It assists the parish pastor in the administration and stewardship of church financial goods, property, and operational budgets.


Core Responsibilities


  • Budget Planning: Helps the pastor draft and manage the annual operating budget.
  • Financial Oversight: Reviews regular income, monthly expenses, and financial statements.
  • Facility Management: Advises on major building maintenance, capital improvements, and related expenditures.
  • Reporting: Assists in presenting an annual financial report to the diocese and parishioners.

Liturgy Committee

In a Catholic parish, the liturgy committee is an advisory group that collaborates with the pastor to plan, coordinate, and evaluate the liturgical and sacramental life of the church. Grounded in the Second Vatican Council's call for the "full, conscious, and active participation" of the faithful, this team ensures that Sunday Mass, feast days, and sacramental celebrations are reverent, beautiful, and spiritually enriching.


Core Responsibilities 


  • Seasonal Planning: Preparing for  liturgical celebrations throughout the year, including Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Holy Week.
  • Ministry Coordination: Overseeing the recruitment, training, scheduling, and spiritual formation of all liturgical ministers, including ushers, lectors, altar servers, and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion.
  • Art and Environment: Directing the physical setup and decoration of the church interior to mirror the current liturgical season or feast.
  • Liturgical Assessment: Reviewing past celebrations to evaluate what resonated with the community and what needs adjustments.

At OLPH, liturgy committee members are appointed by Deacon John Beach.  Meetings are held roughly 5-6 times per year on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.  If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact the OLPH Office.

Faith Formation Parish Team

Composed of parents, catechists, and professional educators, our Faith Formation Team works with the Pastor and Coordinator of Religious Education to generate innovative ideas and develop a comprehensive faith formation plan. Through these efforts, we seek to expand the parish's mission of supporting parents in building strong, faithful Catholic families.
