The usual age for preparation and reception of the sacrament of Confirmation in the Diocese of Richmond is when an individual is at least 15 years of age and enrolled in at least the tenth grade. Candidates for Confirmation must have previously been baptized and received the sacrament of Holy Communion. Preparation classes for Confirmation are in addition to religious education classes and include opportunities for parents, sponsors and the youth to gather and grow in understanding of this sacrament of the Church's mission. Confirmation is celebrated in the Easter season.
Registration for Confirmation preparation takes place in the fall.
For adults who have never received the sacrament of Confirmation, please contact us.
