Service

Our Social Justice Committee meets quarterly to discuss our parish involvement with other non-profits in the area.  The meetings are open to any interested parishioners.  Please ask Fr. Ken for info about the next meeting and how you can get involved.

Please look for opportunities to join in these Outreach programs:

Family Promise - Quarterly, OLPH hosts families in need of temporary housing.  We are in need to volunteers to assist in preparing dinners for the week, overnight hosts to stay at the church, assistance with set up and clean up, and someone to tow a trailer of supplies to the next host site when the week is over.

Respect Life - OLPH sponsors a bus to the March for Life in January.  Each fall, our parish assists with the 40 Days for Life campaign in Roanoke.  Quarterly, you'll find a cradle in the Commons where you can donate baby clothes, food, and other items for mothers in crisis pregnancies.

St. Francis House - Each month, please pick up a paper bag with a list of suggested food donations.  Bring it back filled, and we will get it to St. Francis House for distribution to the poor.

Haiti - We have been assisting a parish in Haiti for several years.  We are trying to help them develop a medical clinic.  Please see Tom Fame for more info on how you can help, and how you can go visit Haiti and see the progress yourself.

Legislative Advocacy - Sign up through the Virginia Catholic Conference Advocacy Network to receive e-mail updates about how our faith intersects with Virginia law.
