The Catholic community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, guided by the Holy Spirit, commits itself to work steadfastly in love
and humility to discern the will of God as we seek to proclaim the mission of Jesus Christ in our Parish and beyond.

Gifted and called by our Baptism, we dedicate ourselves to minister to the diverse needs of all God's people through every
dimension of our worship, formation, fellowship, stewardship and service.

May all that we do in His name glorify Jesus Christ. Amen

A Fond Farewell and a Hearty Welcome!

After serving OLPH in faith and with love for ten years, Fr. Remi has been reassigned. With the help of many volunteers, we
Fr. Kevin
gathered on June 20 and 21 to remember what Fr. Remi brought us, to thank him for all he has left us and to bid him a fond farewell and best wishes in his new assignment at St. Mary's Church in Blacksburg, Virg. Żegnajcie!

On July 10 and 11, we will again gather, this time to welcome our new pastor, Rev. Kevin Segerblom, who was transferred from the four cluster parishes in Portsmouth, Virg., where he served as parochial vicar since his ordination in June, 2007. On July 1, he was busily unpacking boxes in his office and the rectory. Remember, whenever you see Fr. Kevin, be sure to introduce yourself and offer a hearty welcome!

Session 12: Royal Kingdom - Part 2

With David, God has made His fifth covenant with the Israelites. David is anointed king of Judah, then of all of Israel. He defeats the Philistines and moves his capitol to Jerusalem, with great ceremony. When the Ark has been returned to its proper resting place, David gives his people cakes of meat, bread and raisins. In this, he is acting as much as a priest as he is a king. It time, Solomon assumes the throne, achieves peace on all sides and begins a period of great wisdom and riches for the Kingdom of the Israelites. But They are men, are sinful and are punished. Research God's covenants with His people; see how He is keeping His promises. See how even the greatest of prophets and Kings sin. Ponder what it means to be an imperfect human aspiring to be one with God. Video: 7/11-7/12

Upcoming: Session 13: Divided Kingdom – Part 1; Because Solomon sinned, God rent the kingdom asunder into Israel (north) and Judah (south). In the north, the borders stabilize and the people become complacent and again drift from God who spares them for a while, but in time sends them into exile in Assyria.
